Blue Origin has announced that its New Glenn rocket is targeting a maiden launch no earlier than January 10, 2025. Liftoff is scheduled from Launch Complex 36 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida, with a three-hour launch window opening at 1 a.m. EST.
The mission, NG-1, will carry the Blue Ring Pathfinder, a payload designed to validate core systems for flight, ground operations, and orbital logistics. This effort supports the Defense Innovation Unit’s Orbital Logistics prototype program, advancing in-space operational capabilities.
The NG-1 flight is also the first step toward New Glenn’s National Security Space Launch (NSSL) certification. Alongside reaching orbit, Blue Origin aims to land the rocket’s booster offshore in the Atlantic. “This is our first flight, and we’ve prepared rigorously for it,” said Jarrett Jones, Senior Vice President for New Glenn. “No matter what happens, we’ll learn and improve for future launches.”
