The Department of Defense (DoD) announced it has awarded $14.3 million in funding to Anduril Industries, Inc., under Title III of the Defense Production Act (DPA). This investment, combined with $75 million in private capital from Anduril, aims to expand domestic production capabilities for solid rocket motors (SRMs) and strengthen U.S. supply chain resiliency, supporting the 2024 National Defense Industrial Strategy.
The funding will enable upgrades at Anduril’s Geisler Building facility in McHenry, Mississippi, where activities such as casting, curing, and assembly are conducted. The initiative focuses on modernizing production facilities and refining manufacturing processes to lower costs, boost manufacturing speed, and enhance product quality. These efforts will allow Anduril to scale production of critical munitions and take on new development and qualification projects.
“This will […] provide domestic manufacturing capabilities to meet critical demand for current and future U.S. systems,” said Dr. Laura Taylor-Kale, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Policy.
Anthony Di Stasio, Director of the Manufacturing Capability Expansion and Investment Prioritization (MCEIP) directorate, highlighted that the investment aims to streamline SRM production processes, making them more efficient and reliable.
This award is part of a larger $290.8 million effort by the DoD in the fiscal year 2025 to bolster critical defence manufacturing across multiple sectors, reflecting the government’s ongoing commitment to supply chain resilience and industrial innovation.
