Insider Brief:

Redwire Corporation, a leader in space infrastructure, has successfully deployed two 5-kW Roll-Out Solar Arrays (ROSA) on the Maxar Space Systems-built Ovzon 3 communications satellite. The mission launched on January 3 aboard the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, marking the first privately owned Swedish satellite to take orbit.

This marks the first-ever integration of Redwire’s ROSA technology with a commercial satellite, following years of successful operations on the International Space Station (ISS) and NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission as announced by Redwire.

The innovative ROSA technology is designed to provide reliable, compact, and scalable solar power generation for spacecraft, and has previously demonstrated its effectiveness on various missions.

Redwire’s continuous advancement of ROSA technology has positioned it as a key supplier for space missions, with plans to power the Power and Propulsion Element (PPE) for NASA’s Gateway program. The PPE will be equipped with a pair of 37-kW ROSA wings, making them some of the most powerful spacecraft solar arrays ever built.
