Maxar Intelligence announced it has secured a key role in the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s (NGA) Luno A initiative, a $290 million, five-year indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract. The company will provide advanced geospatial insights and automated object detection services, leveraging its cutting-edge technology and extensive satellite imagery archives.

Through Luno A, Maxar aims to support NGA analysts by delivering accurate, actionable insights powered by high-resolution electro-optical satellite imagery and advanced computer vision models. Maxar’s 20-year imagery archive and precise geolocation capabilities provide a foundation for detecting and analyzing objects such as vehicles, aircraft, and critical infrastructure.

Maxar’s ongoing WorldView Legion satellite launches are expected to enhance its imaging capacity, enabling more frequent revisits and near real-time data delivery. This added capability will allow Maxar to offer deeper insights and faster response times to global developments.

Susanne Hake, General Manager for U.S. Government at Maxar, emphasized the operational value of these resources, stating, “Our very-high resolution imagery and massive data library give us a unique edge to meet Luno A’s need for fast, accurate insights.”

NGA’s selection of 10 commercial vendors, including Maxar, highlights the growing importance of industry partnerships in addressing large-scale geospatial challenges. These collaborations aim to improve the monitoring of economic trends, infrastructure changes, and environmental patterns, enhancing NGA’s ability to adapt to dynamic global conditions.

Work under the Luno A contract is already underway, with Maxar contributing data and analysis to help NGA better understand Earth’s changing landscape and inform decision-making processes.
