ARKA, a leader in remote sensing and cognitive software, announced it has completed its acquisition of Maxar’s Radar and Sensor Technology (RST) group, based in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The RST team, known for its contributions to U.S. government synthetic aperture radar (SAR) programs, brings a wealth of expertise in radar-based intelligence solutions that enhance situational awareness and threat detection capabilities.
This acquisition strategically aligns with ARKA’s mission to provide advanced, flexible intelligence tools that support the security needs of the United States and allied nations. By incorporating SAR, moving target indication, and full-spectrum geospatial intelligence capabilities, ARKA aims to address complex, real-time defense challenges through rapid data acquisition and processing.
The acquisition positions RST within ARKA’s Advanced Communications and Mission Applications unit, which specializes in trusted data transport and mission management solutions. ARKA CEO Andreas Nonnenmacher underscored the significance of this addition, highlighting the “unrivaled industry reputation and radar technology expertise” of the RST team. With this acquisition, ARKA anticipates strengthening its role in supplying sophisticated, adaptable solutions to meet the evolving demands of defense and intelligence sectors.
ARKA’s COO Eric Stuckey also emphasized the combined strength of ARKA and RST’s intellectual property and technical talent in driving scalable intelligence products. He noted that ARKA’s enhanced capabilities will empower modern defense efforts with faster, large-scale intelligence gathering that can swiftly adapt to dynamic threat environments.
