Titans Space Development Corporation, a U.S.-based aerospace company specializing in reusable spaceplanes, announced it has partnered with Space Port Australia Pty Ltd. Together, the companies will explore possible locations in Australia to support the manufacturing, development, and launching of Titans Space’s advanced reusable spaceplanes.

The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), will focus on identifying locations that can handle the unique infrastructure requirements of Titans Space’s reusable spacecraft. This includes runways long enough to accommodate horizontal take-off and landing, a crucial feature for the new spaceplanes designed for multiple re-entries and take-offs.

Dr. Caswell, an Australian Space Awards 2024 finalist and representative of Space Port Australia, emphasized the project’s transformative potential for Australia’s space capabilities, stating, “Titans Space is an exciting start-up with the potential to increase Australia’s operational footprint in space.” Caswell highlighted that Space Port Australia’s strengths in space education and space health technology provide a well-suited complement to Titans Space’s ambitions.

Space Port Australia, located in northern New South Wales, brings extensive local expertise in aviation and space operations. Dr. Caswell noted, “This partnership presents a significant opportunity to advance the Australian space industry and foster global contributions from New South Wales in space exploration.” Space Port Australia aims to cultivate an integrated space hub that bolsters innovation and industry growth while promoting educational and research opportunities within the Australian space sector.

Titans Space’s CEO, Mr. Lachman, expressed confidence in Australia’s potential to support large spaceplane operations, noting the country’s history as a Space Shuttle landing site and its capability to support sizable horizontal-lift spacecraft. He stated, “Australia’s position is ideal for serving South East Asia and integrating space tourism with the country’s rich tourism offerings.” According to Lachman, establishing Titans Spaceplanes in Australia could also pave the way for high-tech aerospace careers and strengthen local aerospace support networks.

Currently, Titans Space is actively scouting suitable sites in Australia while continuing its development at its Californian facility. The company envisions this expansion as a strategic step toward bolstering international reusable spaceplane capabilities and supporting global demand for aerospace innovation.
