EarthDaily Analytics (EDA) has announced the acquisition of Descartes Labs (DL) and its subsidiary, Descartes Labs Government, Inc. (DLG). This move marks a strategic expansion for EDA, integrating DL’s expertise in insurance, energy, mining, and U.S. defense sectors into its existing Earth Observation (EO) offerings. Don Osborne, CEO of EDA, will lead the newly combined company.
The acquisition strengthens EDA’s reach across diverse industries, leveraging DL’s established products like Marigold, Iris, Ascend, and the government-focused Retina and Wayfinder. With the upcoming launch of the EarthDaily Constellation in 2025, EDA aims to enhance these solutions by providing richer EO data. This integration promises improved data capabilities for both existing and new clients, offering solutions with broader applications.
EDA’s leadership sees this acquisition as a platform for further growth in the geospatial industry.
