Insider Brief
- The Space Development Agency has awarded Terran Orbital’s subsidiary, Tyvak a $254 million prototype agreement to design, build, and deliver ten satellites for the Tranche 2 Transport Layer Gamma contract.
- These satellites will be part of the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture, a network designed to enhance military communications, data transport, missile warning, and missile-tracking capabilities.
- This contract builds on Terran Orbital’s ongoing collaboration with SDA, which includes the production of 42 buses for the Tranche 1 Transport Layer and contributions to other projects like the T2TL Beta and T2 Tracking Layer.
Terran Orbital announced it has been awarded a $254 million prototype agreement by the Space Development Agency (SDA) to design, build, and deliver ten satellites for the Tranche 2 Transport Layer (T2TL) Gamma contract. These satellites will be part of the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA), a network designed to enhance military communications, data transport, missile warning, and missile-tracking capabilities.
Terran Orbital, through its Tyvak subsidiary, will manage the entire process, from design and construction to integration and testing, using its Ambassador platform. The company will also oversee the launch and early operations of the satellites. This contract builds on Terran Orbital’s ongoing collaboration with SDA, which includes the production of 42 buses for the Tranche 1 Transport Layer (T1TL) and contributions to other projects like the T2TL Beta and T2 Tracking Layer.
The PWSA aims to deploy a large constellation of satellites in low-Earth orbit, providing advanced capabilities to support future military operations. Terran Orbital’s work on the T2TL Gamma contract marks a significant step in realizing this ambitious vision.
