True Anomaly, Inc., announced that SpaceWERX has awarded the technology company specializing in space security a $1.6 million Direct-to-Phase II contract. This contract focuses on Tactically Responsive Space (TacRS) and aims to address critical challenges faced by the Department of the Air Force (DAF).
Under the contract, True Anomaly will enhance the capabilities of its Jackal Autonomous Orbital Vehicle (AOV) to meet TacRS mission demands. The company will work on three main areas: rapid payload integration, improved responsive propulsion systems, and advanced geosynchronous orbit technologies.
These efforts will support the Air Force Research Laboratory and SpaceWERX in increasing mission flexibility and adapting quickly to operational needs. True Anomaly’s advancements will be crucial for the VICTUS HAZE mission and future operations.
Even Rogers, CEO and co-founder of True Anomaly, emphasized the importance of maneuverability and flexibility in TacRS missions. He noted that the Jackal AOV is designed to operate across multiple orbits and inclinations, making it ideal for these missions. The company aims to enhance the Jackal AOV’s capabilities to help the Department of Defense respond swiftly to evolving threats in space.
This contract follows True Anomaly’s recent selection for a $30 million U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command contract for the VICTUS HAZE TacRS mission. Additionally, the company is supporting Gravitics as a subcontractor on its $1.7 million SBIR Direct-to-Phase II contract from SpaceWERX.
