Washington-based lobbying firm J.A. Green & Co. and investment firm Anzu Partners have reportedly joined forces to raise $100 million for a venture capital fund. The Anzu-Green Critical Technologies Fund will support technology startups focusing on national security sectors such as artificial intelligence, quantum science, and renewable energy.

Jeff A. Green, founder of J.A. Green & Co. and a managing partner of the new fund, highlighted their deep insights into the tech and defense sectors as a critical asset for the fund. Anzu Partners, which manages over $1 billion across venture capital and private equity, brings significant experience to the table.

The rise of startups like Palantir Technologies and SpaceX, both of which have grown into multibillion-dollar defense contractors, has spurred increased venture investment in defense, aerospace, and related fields. Recent success stories include Scale AI, valued at nearly $14 billion, and Anduril Industries, which secured a major contract to develop an unmanned fighter jet for the US Air Force.

The Anzu-Green fund will focus on early-stage startups, particularly those with existing revenue. David Seldin and Whitney Haring-Smith, managing partners at Anzu, will help evaluate potential investments alongside Green.

Green aims to assist portfolio startups in identifying grants and other non-dilutive funding sources. He also intends to help these startups navigate the challenging process of securing government contracts, leveraging his firm’s experience with clients like Palantir, which earns most of its revenue from government agencies, including the US Department of Defense.
