Vyoma, a Munich-based space situational awareness company has secured €5 million backed by the European Investment Fund (EIF). This additional boost brings the company’s total funding to over €16 million as reported by European Spaceflight.

Established in 2020, Vyoma focuses on developing advanced space object monitoring systems and automated satellite operations. While currently reliant on ground-based systems, the company is gearing up to launch its first space-based assets in early 2025.

The latest funding injection, facilitated by an EIF-backed fund managed by Atlantic Labs, will expedite the development of Vyoma’s next-generation sensor technology and bolster its team.

In collaboration with EnduroSat, Vyoma is constructing its initial pair of satellites. These satellites will be equipped with optical payloads for observing space objects and mapping orbital dynamics. Additionally, onboard image processing capabilities will enable Vyoma to deliver near real-time actionable data, crucial for services like close approach detection and collision avoidance automation.

The maiden flight of Vyoma’s space object monitoring constellation will see one of its satellites launched aboard a Rocket Factory Augsburg RFA ONE. This mission, supported by the German Space Agency DLR’s Small Satellite Competition, aims to foster innovation by offering free launch services for groundbreaking technologies.
